BRADENTON, Fla. (February 15, 2019) – The State College of Florida Manatees defeated Tallahassee Community College, 9-2, on Friday evening in the first game of the teams' two-game weekend series.
The loss snapped Tallahassee's four-game winning streak and dropped the Eagles to 7-4 on the season.
Chase Hatfield (0-1) started and took the loss for Tallahassee. He pitched two scoreless innings before running into trouble in the third.
The Manatees scored twice to knock him out then added two more in the fourth off Nolan Daniel.
Tallahassee got on the board in the sixth when Trent Jeffcoat and Taylor recorded back-to-back doubles.
SCF blew things open in the seventh, scoring four runs, and added one more in the eighth for a 9-1 lead.
Tallahassee scored in the ninth when Ridge Abinsay's sac-fly plated Alex Ray, who led off the inning with a double.
Lomack had two of the Eagles' five hits.
The teams will wrap up their series at 1 p.m. Saturday.
