#TCCBaseball: Eagles fall in series finale to NWF State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 20, 2019) – Northwest Florida State College clinched the Panhandle Conference Championship with a 3-2 over Tallahassee Community College on Saturday afternoon at Eagle Field.

The Eagles, eliminated from postseason contention with Friday's 8-7 defeat at Northwest Florida State, dropped to 28-19 overall, 9-11 in PC play.

The Raiders managed only five hits on Saturday, but led 2-0 before adding an all-important insurance run in the top of the eighth.

Tallahassee finally broke through against Northwest Florida State's Matt Boswell in the bottom half, scoring twice and stranding the go-ahead runs. The Eagles did all of their damage with none on and two out.

After Trent Jeffcoat walked, consecutive singles by Taylor Lomack, Cyrus Grimes and Ridge Abinsay plated two runs to knock out Boswell, who exited with 11 strikeouts.

Jackson Boyd came on with the tying run just 90 feet away for Tallahassee but he retired Jeff Athey on a pop up to the catcher to end the inning.

The Eagles went down in order in the ninth.

Grimes and Abinsay had two hits each for Tallahassee.

Allen Roulette (2-2) pitched well, despite taking the loss. He went 7.1 innings, allowing only five hits and three runs.

Tallahassee has four games remaining in the season, beginning with Monday's visit from Gulf Coast State College. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
