TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 22, 2019) – Gulf Coast State College scored seven runs in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie en route to an 11-3 win over Tallahassee Community College on Monday evening.

Tallahassee (28-20, 9-12 Panhandle Conference) has dropped three in a row and needs to win two of its final three games to reach the 30-win plateau for the season.

Monday's game was up in the air through five innings.

After the Commodores scored twice in the top of the first, Tallahassee's Cyrus Grimes tied the game in the bottom half on a two-run homer to right.

Tallahassee took a 3-2 lead in the second on Trent Jeffcoat's RBI-single, only to watch the Commodores tie the game in the fourth.

Gulf Coast State scored all but one of its seven runs in the sixth after two were out. Following a pitching change, the Commodores collected three straight singles then starting pitcher Brett Wisley helped his own cause with a two-run homer for a 10-3 lead.

Gulf Coast State tacked on a run in the seventh and ended the game via the mercy rule after retiring the Eagles in order in the bottom half.

Chase Hatfield (0-2) took the loss for Tallahassee.

Jeffcoat and Ridge Abinsay had two hits each for the Eagles.

Tallahassee and Gulf Coast State will close out their season series on Wednesday in Panama City. First pitch is at 6 p.m. eastern.
