TCC picks up two win vs. Black Hawk

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 8, 2020) – Tallahassee Community College's baseball team swept Sunday's doubleheader from Black Hawk (Ill.) College-Moline, winning 8-0 and 7-1.

The Eagles will carry a 19-8 record into Tuesday's Panhandle Conference opener at Chipola College. Game time will be 6 p.m. 

Pitching was the story on Sunday. In game one, Jude Ard and Zane Stephens combined on a two-hit shutout in the Eagles' 8-0 win. 

Ard started and went five innings to get the win. He allowed only one hit and struck out nine. Zane Stephens pitched the final two innings. 

Tallahassee gave its arms more than enough support with a six-run first inning. 

Trent Jeffcoat, Spencer Hanson, Corey Yawn and Cyrus Grimes had two hits each. 

In game two, four Tallahassee pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts in the 7-1 win. 

Hunter Green started and struck out four in three innings. Jacob Estes followed with two strikeouts over two innings. Luke Ard pitched the sixth and struck out two, and Nolan Daniel struck out the side in the seventh. 

The Eagles broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the third.

Grimes was 1-for-2 and struck out three times.
