Eagles sweep Presidents’ Day doubleheader

TALLAHASSEE, FL (February 22nd, 2022) – The Eagles picked up two more wins on Monday, sweeping Thomas University JV in a Presidents' Day doubleheader.

Braden Halladay (So., RHP) got the start for game one, and threw five shutout innings, his longest outing of the season, to pick up his first win. Grant Harrison (So., RHP) came in to throw the last two innings in relief, keeping the Night Hawks out of the run column.

It didn't take long for the Eagles to get on the board, as Andrew Fernandez (So., UTL) tripled in the bottom of the first, coming around to score on an errant throw from the Thomas second baseman. Marcos Dinges (Fr., C/OF) added one more in the second with an RBI base hit and the Eagles brought their run total to four when Harper McLendon (Fr., RHP/OF), and Dinges came around to score after a couple of stolen bases and wild pitches.

Tallahassee was able to end the second game of the doubleheader after four and a half innings, battering Thomas 12-1. Michael Dudley (So., RHP) threw the first three innings, giving up one unearned run and striking out three, and David Strager (Fr., RHP) shut the door in the fourth and fifth, striking out three of his own.

Dave Mitchum (Fr., INF/OF) went 2-2 and tallied four RBI, bringing his season total to seven, and Ethan Krizen (So., C) went 1-1, brought in two more runs, and scored three times himself.

The Eagles travel to Douglas, Georgia to take on the South Georgia State Hawks, who they beat 3-2 on opening night. They return home for a three-game series against Chattahoochee Valley Community College this weekend, and Saturday's doubleheader will be streamed live here
