Four Eagles recognized with All-State honors

Ethan Firoved (Fr., LHP) was named first-team All-State for NJCAA Region 8 at Wednesday night's FCSAA Tournament kick-off dinner. The lefty made 15 appearances throughout the season and pitched 76.2 innings. He had a 10-3 record, 3.40 ERA, and struck out 96 batters. Firoved, who was previously named first-team All-Panhandle Conference and Panhandle Conference Pitcher of the Year, was also named to the Division I All-South Atlantic District team, and the DI All-Region 8 Gold Glove Team.

Josh Pigozzo (So., OF), was named second-team All-State. Pigozzo hit .369 this season, tallied 3 home runs, 14 doubles, and drove in 40 runs for the Eagles. He was a threat on the bases as well, stealing 19 bases and was only caught 3 times. He was previously named first-team All-Panhandle Conference.

Ethan Krizen (So., C) was also named second-team All-State. Krizen was the Eagles' primary catcher, but also did continuous damage in the middle of the lineup. He batted .310 with a .467 on-base percentage. He drew as many walks (29) as he did strikeouts, and stole 7 bases on the season. He was previously named first-team All-Panhandle Conference and the Panhandle Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Marcos Dinges (Fr., OF/DH) was named the designated hitter for second-team All-State. Dinges carried a .345 batting average throughout the season, hit 7 home runs, and drove in 38 runs. He stole 7 bases while only being caught once. He was previously named first-team All-Panhandle Conference.

The Eagles' season concluded after dropping the first two games of the Ocala Regional against College of Central Florida. They finished the season with a 33-18 (14-10) record and ranked #7 in the final Region 8 Coaches' Poll. Head Coach Mike McLeod, who is retiring, was honored at the FCSAA Tournament in Lakeland, FL, and threw out the first pitch before the tournament's opening game.
