Eagles explode for 25 runs in Panama City

PANAMA CITY, Florida (March 20, 2023) — In one of the highest-scoring games in recent memory, TCC defeated Gulf Coast State 25-14 in Panama City on Monday night. The Eagles totaled 15 hits and 5 home runs and drew 13 walks on the night.

TCC fell behind 6-0 after a five-run second inning from Gulf Coast State. They came storming back in the third, putting up seven runs. They added six more in the fourth and capped off the game with a 10-run seventh inning.

Jesus Vanegas (INF, RS-Fresh.) went 4-6 at the plate with a home run and three RBI. It was the first four-hit game of his career. Marco Dinges (C/OF, Soph.) and Brett Gwinn (1B/RHP, Soph.) each hit two home runs. It was Dinges's third multi-home run game of his career, and Gwinn's first.

While this game will most likely be remembered for its offense, Brandon Delapenha (OF, RS-Fresh.) robbed a home run in center field in what will surely be one of the plays of the season.

Last season, the Eagles surpassed the 20-run mark once, and it was against Gulf Coast State in a 21-10 victory.

The Eagles host Gulf Coast State on Wednesday, first pitch is scheduled for 5:00 at Eagle Field.
