TCC’s C.J. Washington named FCSAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 4, 2012) - Tallahassee Community College's C.J. Washington has been named the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the voting period of November 26-December 2. 

Washington, a sophomore forward from Augusta, Ga., averaged 20.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks while recording double-doubles in both games last week for the Eagles, who have won seven straight games since opening the season 1-2. 

At NJCAA No. 23 Gordon (Ga.) State College on November 27, Washington recorded career-highs of 27 points and 14 rebounds in Tallahassee's 86-79 win over the Highlanders. Four days later, he added a 13-point, 11-rebound effort in an 82-63 win over Santa Fe at the Milton H. Johnson Panhandle Classic, helping the Eagles avenge one of their two losses on the season. 

For the week, Washington hit 40.0 percent (14-of-35) of his field goal attempts and was 10-of-12 (83.3 percent) from the free throw line. 

Washington and the Eagles will resume play this weekend at the annual Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout in Ocala, Fla. Tallahassee will play State College of Florida at 4 p.m. Saturday and Brevard Community College at 2 p.m. Sunday. 

FCSAA Poll Update 

Tallahassee Community College's men's and women's basketball teams held their positions in the FCSAA Men's and Women's Basketball Coaches' Polls, released earlier today.

The Eagle men (8-2) are No. 6 while the Lady Eagles (8-2) are ranked No. 5.
