Eagles win in OT at FSC-Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (November 12, 2012) - FCSAA No. 5 Tallahassee Community College evened its record at 2-2 with an 80-77 overtime victory at Florida State College at Jacksonville on Monday afternoon.

Just 11 days into the season, Tallahassee has played four games, all decided by three points or less. Last Friday, the Eagles rallied from 19 down only to lose by a single point at Santa Fe College. Today, Tallahassee watched a 17-point second half lead evaporate but responded in the extra period, outscoring the Blue Wave, 13-10.

Tallahassee opened the second half on a 18-4 run to grab a 48-31 lead and was poised to run away with the game. The Blue Wave, however, slowly chipped away and tied the game at 67-all when Aaron Harrison successfully converted a three-shot foul with 16.0 left.

The Eagles had an opportunity to win in regulation but Jonathan Hood's shot from the corner missed at the buzzer.

The Blue Wave rode the momentum into OT, grabbing a quick four-point lead, but Tallahassee cut the deficit in half then took the lead for good on a three-pointer by Hood, who finished with nine points.

Curtis Diamond led Tallahassee with 17 points, followed by Marlon Johnson with 15. Bernard Kline added 13 and Alex Andrews scored 11.

Tallahassee will continue its current four-game road trip on Friday when it travels to St. Petersburg College.
