TCC men look to continue winning ways at Shootout

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 7, 2012) - Tallahassee Community College's sixth-ranked men's basketball team will put its seven-game winning streak on the line when it travels to Ocala, Fla., for the Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout this Saturday and Sunday.

The annual event is again split between two sites that are just 36 miles apart – Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Fla., and the College of Central Florida, located in Ocala.

FCSAA No. 6 Tallahassee (8-2) will be matched up against a pair of fellow FCSAA ranked opponents – No. 8 State College of Florida (Saturday, 4 p.m.) and No. 10 Brevard Community College (Sunday, 2 p.m.).

Both games will be carried by Panhandle Sports Broadcasting and can be seen live at www.PSBlive.com

The Eagles have won seven straight games since opening the season 1-2. The last two wins have been, arguably, Tallahassee's most impressive during the streak – an 86-79 triumph of then-NJCAA No. 23 Gordon (Ga.) State College on November 20 and an 82-63 victory over Santa Fe on December 1 in Marianna, Fla.

State College of Florida has won five of its last seven games and boasts an 8-3 record. The Manatees had won four straight before dropping games against Gulf Coast State College and Pensacola State College at last weekend's Milton H. Johnson Panhandle Classic.

A stark contrast in styles will be on display in Saturday's showdown.

State College of Florida, under first-year head coach Brock Erickson, boasts the nation's second-leading scoring attack, averaging 103.0 points per game. Meanwhile, Eddie Barnes' Eagles are allowing only 64.6 points per game.

Like Tallahassee, Brevard (9-2) brings a seven-game winning streak into the Shootout but before the Titans get to Sunday's game, they must deal with No. 3 Gulf Coast State on Saturday.
