#TCCBasketball: Eagles down Atlanta Metro for second win

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 4, 2016) – NJCAA No. 19/Region 8 No. 4 Tallahassee Community College picked up a 72-62 win over Atlanta Metro State College on Friday in day one action of the Seals Financial Tip-off Classic.

The win was Tallahassee's 15th straight at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome, dating back to the final game of the 2014-15 season and kept Mark White undefeated at home (14-0) as the Eagles' head coach.

Friday's outcome was up for grabs nearing the five-minute mark and Tallahassee clinging to a 59-56 lead when Deion Bute ignited an 11-0 run with a rebound and putback. David Simmons' bucket at the 1:45 mark ended the run and pushed the Eagles' lead to 70-56.

Bute recorded his second straight double-double – 16 points and 13 rebounds – to pace four players in double-figures for Tallahassee.

Kiair Crouch finished with 15 points while Simmons and Jacob Winston had 11 points each.

Much like Tuesday's season-opening win over Faith (Ga.) Baptist Christian Academy, the Eagles struggled to find their shooting touch, particularly from long distance where they were just 4-of-25 (1-of-14 second half). Despite holding Atlanta Metro scoreless for the game's first six minutes, Tallahassee led just 6-0 and found itself in a 12-12 tie by the 12:00 mark.

The first half eventually featured three ties and four lead changes, and the Eagles had to erase a five-point deficit before taking a 35-29 lead to the locker room.

Tallahassee never trailed in the second half.

Emeshaun Offord led all scorers with 22 points for Atlanta Metro, who fell to 1-1 with the loss.

The Trail Blazers will play in Saturday's 12 p.m. game against Eastern Florida State College, who defeated South Georgia Technical College, 94-57, in Friday's first game.

Tallahassee and South Georgia Tech will close the Classic with a 2 p.m. game that can be seen live on TCCeagles.com.
