#TCCBasketball escapes South Georgia Tech to stay unbeaten

AMERICUS, Ga. (December 5, 2016) – Tallahassee Community College's men's basketball team rallied in the final two minutes to beat South Georgia Technical College, 75-71, on Monday evening and stay undefeated on the season.

Tallahassee trailed 71-68 with 2:07 left but scored the final seven points of the game to escape with its 12thstraight victory.

The Eagles' 12-0 start ranks sixth best in school history and is the longest season-opening win streak since a 24-0 start in 2000-01.

Tallahassee last won 12 straight games during the 2009-10 season.

The game featured 11 lead changes and nine ties, including one at 39-all to end the first half. The Eagles opened the second half on a 12-2 run to lead 51-41, the largest lead of the night for either team.

South Georgia Tech shot just 30.8 percent (8-of-26) percent from the floor in the second half but knocked down 13-of-15 free throws to climb back into the game and eventually take a three-point lead into the final two minutes.

But after Tallahassee went back in front and extended its lead to three, Deion Bute's free throw with 12 seconds left sealed the victory. Bute finished with a double-double – 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Kiair Crouch and David Simmons scored 16 points each for Tallahassee. Will Washington had 10.

The Region 8 No. 1 Eagles will return to action on Saturday when it travels to Ocala, Fla., for the annual Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout.
