#TCCBasketball: Eagle men drop first game of season

OCALA, Fla. (December 11, 2016) – Tallahassee Community College's 13-game winning streak ended on Sunday in an 85-80 loss to Daytona State College at the Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout.

Tallahassee, ranked No. 6 nationally and No. 1 in the Region 8 Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll, is now 13-1 on the season. Daytona State, who opened the season with a No. 12 national ranking, has won four straight games to improve to 10-4.

Tallahassee outscored Daytona State 11-4 over the final three minutes of the first half and led 42-31 at the intermission. Midway through the second half, the Eagles led by 14 but the lead was accompanied by foul trouble – Will Washington, Kiair Crouch and Jacob Winston had four fouls each, forcing head coach Mark White to abort the team's trademark man-to-man defense in favor of a zone.

Daytona State took advantage and outscored Tallahassee by 19 the rest of the way en route to a 54-point second half – the most the Eagles have allowed in any half this season.

Tallahassee will look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday when it hosts Red Devils Basketball Academy. Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
