The win was the 200th of head coach Mark White's NJCAA coaching career.

The Region 8 No. 2/NJCAA No. 9 Eagles, winners of five straight, are now 18-1 (1-0) while Pensacola State has lost consecutive games on the heels of a seven-game winning streak to fall to 10-6 (0-1).

The Eagles led 38-36 at the half and used an 8-0 run early in the second stanza to begin to pull away from the Pirates.
