#TCCBasketball: Eagle men beat ‘Dores, now 19-1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 10, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's men's basketball team improved to 19-1 with a 73-59 win over Gulf Coast State College in Panhandle Conference action on Tuesday evening at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome.

The Region 8 No. 2/NJCAA No. 9 Eagles are now 2-0 in PC play.

With the win, it's Tallahassee's best record through 20 games since 2000-01. The Eagles also extended their home-court winning streak to 23 games.

Tallahassee led 33-29 at the intermission and was in front 40-37 at the 15:10 mark of the second half. That's when Jacob Winston took over.

The freshman guard from Montgomery, Ala., knocked down a three-pointer to begin a 10-0 run that all but put the game away. Winston went on to hit six more three-pointers in the half, finishing 7-of-8 from long distance after intermission.

He scored a game-high 25 points.

The offensive spurt extended to a 28-8 run when Deion Bute connected in the paint with 6:57 left in the game to give Tallahassee a 68-45 lead.

David Simmons and Kiair Crouch joined Winston in double-figures with 20 and 10 points, respectively.

Dyshane Murphy scored 11 to lead Gulf Coast State (15-4, 1-1).

Tallahassee returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Chipola College. Game time is 8:30 p.m. eastern.
