#TCCBasketball: Raiders score late to beat TCC

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 21, 2017) – Northwest Florida State College's Daryl Edwards drove the length of the floor and hit a floater in the paint to give the Raiders a 78-76 win over Tallahassee Community College in Saturday's Panhandle Conference men's basketball contest.

Tallahassee, who had its 24-game home court winning streak snapped, is 20-2 overall, 3-1 in PC play. The Raiders are 18-2 (4-0).

The game, a 1 vs. 2 battle in the Region 8 Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll, lived up to the hype.

Neither side enjoyed more than a four-point lead in the second half, and the game was tied six different times in the final eight-plus minutes.

Tallahassee's Deion Bute forced the final tie at 76-all when he hit one of two free throws with 21 seconds remaining. After a near turnover on the inbounds, Northwest Florida State was awarded a timeout, setting up Edwards' winning shot.

He finished with a team-high 20 points.

Tallahassee's David Simmons led all scorers with 28 points. Kiair Crouch added 19 for the Eagles.

Northwest Florida State opened up a ten-point lead (37-27) with four minutes remaining in the first half before the Eagles closed the half on an 11-5 run to trail 42-38 at the intermission.

Tallahassee will return to action on Tuesday when it hosts Pensacola State College at 7:30 p.m.
