#TCCBasketball: Eagles bounce back, beat Pensacola State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 24, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's men's basketball team got back on the winning track on Tuesday, defeating Pensacola State College, 63-45, in Panhandle Conference play.

Tallahassee (21-2) improved to 4-1 in PC play and pulled within one-half game of idle Northwest Florida State College for first place in the league standings. Pensacola State is now 11-9 (1-4 PC).

The host Eagles needed very little time to show they had put Saturday's 78-76 loss to Northwest Florida State in the rearview mirror.

Just five minutes into the game, Tallahassee led 12-2 and the Pirates didn't reach double-digits on the scoreboard until the 5:14 mark of the half on a basket by Gerald Williams.

Tallahassee led 30-12 at the intermission.

An 8-0 run early in the second half extended the Eagles' lead to 47-20, their largest of the night, with 13:07 left in the game. They matched the lead a little over a minute later and cruised from there.

Tallahassee delivered another stellar defensive effort, limiting the Pirates to just 30.0 percent (15-of-50) shooting from the floor and 2-of-14 from long distance.

Offensively, the Eagles were led by Leon Freeman-Daniels, who had a double-double – 12 points and 12 rebounds. David Simmons and Tre Todd shared team-high scoring honors with 13 points each.

Tallahassee will travel to Gulf Coast State College on Saturday for an 8:30 p.m. tilt with the Commodores.
