Eagle men open preseason practice with jamboree

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 30, 2016) – Tallahassee Community College’s men’s basketball team will officially open preseason practice on Saturday by hosting the annual Southeastern Jamboree at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome. 

The Eagles, under the direction of second-year head coach Mark White, will open the 2016-17 season exactly one month later on Tuesday, November 1. 

Saturday’s jamboree will feature 18 of the top NJCAA men’s basketball teams in the Southeast, all of whom will play in front of coaches representing a who’s who of four-year schools nationwide. Each of the 18 teams will play three games, consisting of two 23-minute halves with a running clock.   

Three games will be played simultaneously, starting on the hour, beginning at 10 a.m. The Eagles’ first action comes at 11 a.m. against Polk State College. 

Tallahassee will also play 2016 NJCAA Tournament participant Eastern Florida State College at 1 p.m. in a rematch of last year’s classic in the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA State Tournament, a game in which the Eagles rallied from a 21-point, second-half deficit for the victory. 

Tallahassee’s final game will be at 5 p.m. vs. the College of Central Florida while the final round of games for the day tips at 7 p.m. 

Other teams who will be participating in the Southeastern Jamboree include: Albany (Ga.) Technical College, ASA College Miami, Central Georgia Technical College, Chipola College, Daytona State College, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Hillsborough Community College, Indian River State College, Northwest Florida State College, Palm Beach State College, Santa Fe College, South Georgia Technical College, State College of Florida and St. Petersburg College. 

All games will take place in the Bill Hebrock Eagledome and the Lifetime Sports Complex. 

General admission is $10.
