#TCCBasketball: Eagle men upset in OT

AMERICUS, Ga. (December 6, 2017) – NJCAA No. 4/Region 8 No. 2 Tallahassee Community College suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday night, falling to South Georgia Technical College, 96-88 in overtime.

The loss snapped the Eagles' (10-1) ten-game winning streak to open the season.

The game, which featured 14 ties and 12 lead changes, was nip-and-tuck throughout.

Tallahassee led 36-35 at the half, and the first 20 minutes followed the Eagles' preferred script: a game on pace for the 70s and South Georgia Tech was limited to just 33.3 percent (12-of-36) shooting from the floor.

The second half turned out to be a different story.

The host Jets connected on 15-of-30 field goal attempts but, after erasing Tallahassee's 79-75 lead in the final 90 seconds of regulation, missed an uncontested layup at the buzzer that would have won the game.

With both teams seemingly given a reprieve, it was South Georgia Tech who seized the opportunity, outscoring Tallahassee 17-9 in the extra period to score the upset victory.

Despite a 5-5 record, three of South Georgia Tech's wins are against Region 8 opponents, including another nationally-ranked team – No. 25 College of Central Florida.

Five players scored in double-figures for Tallahassee, led by Trevor Lewis' 19. He hit 5-of-10 three-pointers.

Quentin Jackson scored 18, Javien Williams tossed in 17 and C.J. Fisher, 12.

JaQuan Morris added 11.

Tallahassee will resume play on Saturday at the annual Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout in Gainesville, Fla.

The Eagles will play Broward College at 3 p.m. Saturday then face undefeated and NJCAA No. 10 Florida SouthWestern State College at 5 p.m. Sunday.
