#TCCBasketball: Morris powers Eagle men past ‘Dores

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 27, 2018) – JaQuan Morris scored a game-high 22 points and Tallahassee Community College's men's basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak, defeating Gulf Coast State College, 80-59, on Saturday evening. 

Tallahassee is now 15-7 on the season and 2-4 in Panhandle Conference play. Gulf Coast State dropped to 1-5 in league play. 

Facing a must-win situation if it wanted to keep its postseason hopes alive, Tallahassee delivered a strong second half performance, outscoring the Commodores, 49-32, over the final 20 minutes. 

Morris scored 19 of his 22 points after the break, and he factored into both ends of the game's decisive run. 

Morris knocked down one of his six three-pointers at the 7:00 mark to give the Eagles a 59-48 lead. He drained his final shot from distance with 1:34 remaining, capping a 21-8 run and extending Tallahassee's advantage to 77-56. 

Morris was joined in double-figures by Corey Douglas (19 points) and Javien Williams (18). Douglas also had 12 rebounds for the double-double. 

Tallahassee will have a week off before hosting Northwest Florida State College on February 3 at 7:30 p.m.
