New bests set on final day of NJCAA Championships

HOBBS, NM – Day three of competition at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships saw some more bests from TCC athletes. Troy Williams (Soph.) set a new season best and came close to a personal record in the 400-meter hurdles, winning his heat and finishing with the 15th best time (53.98) in the event. Williams caps off his two-year career with TCC as the only athlete to qualify for the NJCAA Championships more than once.

Raeven Byrd (Soph.) was the first TCC athlete to compete on Saturday, and her best attempt in the triple jump was 10.61 meters, just 0.02 meters shy of the school record. She finished in 17th in the event.

Justin Moore (Fresh.) set a school record in the 400-meter dash, finishing with a time of 50.43.

Due to weather postponing many of the events scheduled for Friday, the heats for Williams and Moore on Saturday served as their final race.

TCC finishes the meet with three new school records: Lynette Scutari (Fresh.) in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, and Justin Moore in the 400-meter dash.
