TCC Softball earns second straight split with Darton State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 10, 2013) - For the second consecutive day, Tallahassee Community College split a doubleheader with NJCAA No. 10 Darton (Ga.) State College.

Like Saturday's twin bill at Darton State, Tallahassee salvaged the sweep with a win in game two, winning 5-2 after dropping a 12-3 decision in the opener.

In game two, Ashley Dobson picked up her second win in as many days against the Cavaliers. She allowed only two hits and struck out six.

Brianna Murillo was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI to lead the Eagles offensively. Kacey Mattos went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Dominique Davis was 1-for-3.

In the opener, Eagle pitchers yielded 11 earned runs in Darton State's 12-3 win.

Murillo and Mattos again led Tallahassee offensively with two hits and an RBI each. Mattos drove in her run on a solo homer.

The Eagles (14-12) will play their final two non-conference doubleheaders on Wednesday and Thursday at St. Petersburg College and State College of Florida, respectively.
