TCC's Mariah Rivera named FCSAA Softball Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 26, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College's Mariah Rivera has been named Softball Pitcher of the Week by the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) for the week of February 17-23.

Rivera, a Tallahassee native and former Lincoln High School standout, went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and one save in three appearances during the voting period.

Rivera was nearly unhittable, literally, in her two starts last week, allowing a total of three hits in ten innings while recording complete-game victories over Santa Fe College (February 18) and Andrew (Ga.) College (February 19), the latter coming in no-hit fashion.

Then, against Andrew on February 22, she tossed 2.2 innings of one-hit ball in relief to earn the save.

For the week, Rivera totaled 12.2 innings in the circle and allowed only four hits and three walks while striking out 12.

Rivera is enjoying a solid rookie campaign for the Eagles and, to date, has posted a 5-2 record and 2.13 ERA in nine appearances.
