TCC’s Ashley Dobson named OC Sports NJCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 9, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College sophomore pitcher Ashley Dobson has nabbed her second player of the week award in as many days. 

Today, Dobson was named the OC Sports NJCAA Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week for games March 31-April 6. On Tuesday, she received pitcher of the week honors from the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA). 

Dobson, a sophomore from Wheatfield, Ind., was 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA in two appearances during the voting period for the Eagles, who climbed to No. 3 in the NJCAA rankings earlier Wednesday. 

Dobson delivered complete-game victories in back-to-back Panhandle Conference games for Tallahassee – game two vs. Gulf Coast State College on March 31 and game one vs. Chipola College on April 4. 

Against Gulf Coast State, she tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out eight in the Eagles' 6-0 victory. In Tallahassee's 4-2 win over Chipola four days later, she allowed only five hits and struck out seven. 

On the season, Dobson is 15-4 with a 1.45 ERA. She and her Tallahassee teammates are currently 31-10 overall and lead the Panhandle Conference with a 15-3 record. 

The Eagles will host Pensacola State College on Thursday afternoon for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
