TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 21, 2015) – In a battle of nationally-ranked teams, No. 9 Tallahassee Community College won both games of Saturday's doubleheader against No. 4 Chattanooga (Tenn.) State Community College to improve to 11-2 for the season.

The Eagles won by the scores of 6-1 and 5-3.

In game one, the Eagles rallied behind the pitching of Mariah Rivera to claim a 6-1 victory.

After surrendering the game's first run, Rivera shut down the Tigers offense over the final six innings.

Chattanooga State had its chances, loading the bases in each of the first two innings, but Rivera came through in the clutch and escaped trouble with only one run allowed. The Tigers stranded two more runners in the third. By then, Rivera had hit her stride and only got stronger as the game wore on.

Rivera went the distance for the third time this season and struck out nine batters on her way to her third win.

After spotting Chattanooga State the first run of the game, the Eagles answered right back with four runs in their half of the first. Tallahassee added two more insurance runs later in the game, one in the third inning and another in the sixth.

Danielle Ekberg went 2-for-4 today with two RBI and also scored a run in the game one victory.

In game two, the Eagles rallied again, and claimed the 5-3 victory.

After surrendering three runs to the Tigers in the third inning the Eagles answered back in the bottom half of the inning with a pair of runs.

With two outs, Kayla Boucher stepped to the plate and, with a runner on, launched one over the left-centerfield fence, her second home run of the season.

After tying the game in the fourth, Tallahassee delivered another two-out rally in the sixth with what proved to be the game-winning runs.

With two outs and nobody on, Danielle Patterson extended the inning when she beat out an infield single. Taesha DuBoise followed with a single and both runners advanced on a wild pitch, setting the stage for Brianna Tourtillott, who singled up the middle to score both runners.

Alexandra Cook got the start for the Eagles in game two and went three innings.

Gabrielle Decker entered in relief and pitched four scoreless innings.  Decker recorded her fourth win of the season to improve to 4-1.

The Eagles will be back in action on Monday afternoon when they take on Andrew (Ga.) College in a doubleheader scheduled for 2 p.m. at the TCC Softball Complex.
