Decker, Rivera pitch Tallahassee past Andrew College

CUTHBERT, Ga. (March 12, 2015) – Gabrielle Decker and Mariah Rivera allowed only four hits combined as NJCAA No. 7/FCSAA No. 5 Tallahassee Community College swept a doubleheader from Andrew (Ga.) College on Thursday afternoon.

The Eagles cruised to a 10-1 victory in game one then pulled out a 2-0 win in the nightcap.

Tallahassee improved to 18-6 heading into Friday's doubleheader at Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) Agricultural College, the Eagles' final games before Panhandle Conference play begins on Wednesday.

In the opener, Tallahassee scored single runs in the first and second innings and that was more than enough for Decker, who went the distance in the six-inning victory. She allowed only one hit and an unearned run while striking out eight.

The Fighting Tigers cut Tallahassee's lead in half with a run in the third, but the Eagles quickly put the game away scoring two runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Brianna Tourtillott (3-for-5, 2 R, 4 RBIs) and Kayla Boucher (3-for-4, 2 RBIs) led the Eagles' 14-hit attack. Taesha DuBoise also had two hits, scored two runs and drove in three, and Kiara Johnson had two hits.

In game two, hits came at a premium for both sides. While Rivera was busy working on a three-hit shutout, Tallahassee managed only four hits, but it was enough in a 2-0 victory.

Tallahassee broke the scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the fourth and Rivera made the lead hold up. She went the distance and struck out 11.

Tourtillott had two of the Eagles' four hits. Jaylele Pryor and Shelby Manns had the other two. Julianne Gillo had an RBI for the Eagles.

Friday's doubleheader begins at 2 p.m. in Tifton, Ga.
