Eagles climb to No. 7 in first NJCAA softball poll

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 11, 2015) – Tallahassee Community College’ strong start to the 2015 season earned the Eagles a two-spot jump to No. 7 in the first regular season Marucci Sports Division I Softball Poll.

Tallahassee is one of four schools from Region 8 in the poll and all are ranked seventh or higher.

The College of Central Florida leads the quartet of Florida schools at No. 1. Indian River State College is No. 3 and Seminole State College is No. 5.

The Eagles stand at 16-6 thus far, thanks to a rigorous non-conference schedule that includes a doubleheader sweep of preseason No. 4 Chattanooga State (Tenn.) Community College and single wins against preseason No. 16 Walters (Tenn.) State Community College and new No. 18 Spartanburg Methodist College. Tallahassee has also faced Central Florida and No. 6 Southern Union (Ala.) State Community College.

Tallahassee wraps up its pre-conference schedule with doubleheaders at Andrew (Ga.) College and Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) Agricultural College on Thursday and Friday, respectively. The Eagles open Panhandle Conference play next Wednesday with a trip to Pensacola State College.
