#TCCSoftball splits with Santa Fe

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 5, 2016) – Tallahassee Community College's softball team split a doubleheader with Santa Fe College on Saturday, falling in game one, 1-0, and winning game two, 8-0. 

In the opener, Santa Fe plated a run in the top of the first against Tallahassee starter Alexandra Cook and that proved to be the only run of the game. 

The Eagles fell despite outhitting Santa Fe, 8-6. 

Kristin Gunter was 2-for-4 and Brooke Marendino was 2-for-3. 

Cook allowed only six hits and one walk while striking out eight. 

In game two, Tallahassee outhit the Saints, 10-2, in the 8-0 victory. 

The Eagles scored three runs in the second then put the game away with four more in the third. 

The big hit in the third inning was Alyssa NeSmith's two-run homer. 

Tallahassee ended the game via the mercy rule in the sixth when Alicia Smith flied out to center, scoring Marendino from third. 

NeSmith finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Marendino was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jaylene Pryor was 2-for-3 and scored twice. 

Raya Moncus picked up the win in the circle for Tallahassee, allowing only two hits in six innings. 

The Eagles are now 10-10 on the season.
