#TCCSoftball wins two at FPU Classic

MARIANNA, Fla. (February 11, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's softball team picked up two impressive victories on Saturday at the Florida Public Utilities Classic hosted by Chipola College. 

The Eagles opened the day with a 14-2 win over NJCAA No. 14 College of Southern Idaho then beat Wallace (Ala.) State Community College-Hanceville, 10-2, in their second game of the day. 

Tallahassee jumped on CSI with three runs in the top of the first and led wire to wire. Already in front 9-2, the Eagles added five runs in the top of the seventh. 

Kristin Gunter hit her sixth home run of the season, part of a 3-for-5, four-RBI afternoon. Samantha Malik also homered and was 1-for-3. 

Callie Paine picked up the win in the circle for the Eagles. 

Against Wallace State, the Eagles broke a scoreless tie with a nine-run third inning. The Lions got on the board with two runs in the fourth, but Tallahassee ended the game via the run rule with a fifth-inning run. 

Both Brooke Bates and Brandie Callaway went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a home run. 

Raya Moncus picked up the win for Tallahassee.
