#TCCSoftball earns split at St. Pete

CLEARWATER, Fla. (February 25, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's softball team picked up a split in Saturday's doubleheader at St. Petersburg College. 

The Eagles dropped game one, 8-0, then bounced back for a 6-5 win in game two to return home with an 11-5 record. 

In the opener, St. Petersburg rolled up 16 hits in the 8-0, five-inning victory. Callie Paine was tagged for six runs and 12 hits through four innings, including five runs in the first that put the Eagles in an early hole. 

Tallahassee managed just three hits – singles by Kristin Gunter, Casey Durham and Alyssa NeSmith

Game two was a much different story. 

Tallahassee starter Raya Moncus gave up three first-inning runs but settled in and limited the Titans to just two runs the rest of the way. 

Trailing 3-2, the Eagles took the lead with a three-run fourth inning and added an insurance run in the sixth for a 6-3 lead. 

Samantha Malik homered for Tallahassee and finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs. 

Alyssa Rosenbaum was 2-for-3 with a double and run scored. 

Tallahassee will return to action on Saturday, March 4 when it travels to Gainesville, Fla., to participate in the Santa Fe College Triangle. The Eagles will play the host Saints at noon then Georgia Military College at 2 p.m.
