#TCCSoftball: Eagles swept by Central Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 24, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College dropped both games of Saturday's softball doubleheader against the College of Central Florida, falling 13-0 and 10-3.

The Eagles are now 7-10 on the season and will host another Mid-Florida Conference opponent, Santa Fe College, on Tuesday.

Central Florida (20-4) certainly lived up to its No. 16 national ranking, tallying a combined 23 runs and 24 hits in the doubleheader.

After Morgan Cushman (4 IP) and Samantha Urbina (1 IP) combined to no-hit the Eagles in game one, Tallahassee was neck-and-neck with the Patriots through four innings of game two.

The teams traded first-inning runs – the Eagles scored when Monica Marquez' sac-fly plated Jaycee Thomas, who led off the inning with an infield single – and the score remained 1-1 until the fifth.

Central Florida sent 13 batters to the plate in the fifth and busted the game open with an eight-run inning. The Eagles got two of the runs back in their half of the fifth – Samantha Malik's sac-fly scored Brandie Callaway and Marquez singled home Thomas.

Thomas was 2-for-4 and scored twice in game two. Callaway was 2-for-3 and scored a run.

Shaquoya Williams (1-3) took the game two loss for Tallahassee. Sidney Mathis (3-4) was the losing pitcher in the opener.

Tallahassee and Santa Fe are set for a 4 p.m. first pitch on Tuesday.
