#TCCSoftball: Eagles earn split with Santa Fe

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 27, 2018) – After dropping a 7-1 decision to Santa Fe College in game one, Tallahassee Community College battled back for an 8-0, game two win over the Saints on Tuesday afternoon at the TCC Softball Complex.

Tallahassee is now 8-11 on the season while the Region 8 No. 10 Saints are 15-9-1.

In the nightcap, the Eagles jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after their first at-bat, doing all of the damage after there were two outs and nobody on.

Samantha Malik drew a walk to keep the inning alive and, after stealing second, scored on Olivia Russell's double to left-center. Callie Paine followed with a double to plate Russell and she later scored on Ismay Poot's single.

That turned out to be more than enough run support for Shaquoya Williams (2-3), who tossed a five-hit shutout. She walked one and struck out two.

Tallahassee padded its lead with two runs in the fourth then scored three in the sixth to end the game via the mercy rule.

With the score 7-0, Aliyah Guilliam's double scored Poot with the game-ending run.

After managing just four hits in the opener, Tallahassee exploded for 11 in game two.

Poot was 3-for-3 and had three RBI. Russell was 3-for-4. Paine and Guillium had two hits each.

In game one, Santa Fe broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the third, two courtesy of Bailey Moll's home run. She later added an RBI-double during a three-run fifth.

Paine (3-2) took the loss in the circle for Tallahassee.

Russell was 2-for-3, accounting for half of the Eagles' hit total.

The same two teams will play in Gainesville, Fla., on Thursday. Game one of the doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m.
