#TCCSoftball splits on day one of Seminole Invite

SANFORD, Fla. (March 3, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College's softball team split a doubleheader on day one of the Seminole State College Invite. 

The Eagles opened the day with a 7-5 win in eight innings over Miami Dade College then dropped a 12-8 decision to Seminole State. 

Against Miami Dade, Tallahassee tied the game in its final at-bat to force extra innings.

Krystal Haynes' solo homer evened the score at 3-all then the Eagles exploded for four runs in the top of the eight. 

Samantha Malik's sac-fly scored Jaycee Thomas with the go-ahead run but it was D'Kota Cassady's two-out single that scored Olivia Russell with what proved to be the winning run.

Haynes went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Cassady was 1-for-4 with a run driven in.

Olivia Russell led the Eagles' attack, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. 

Callie Paine (4-3) pitched a complete game and struck out eight. 

In the second game of the day, the host Raiders scored five runs in their first at-bat en route to the 12-8 victory. 

Seminole State scored five runs in its first at-bat and led 7-0 after two innings. 

Tallahassee scored four runs in the third to make it a game and eventually got as close as two (9-7) in the fourth, but three runs for Seminole State in the fifth all but put the game away. 

Ismay Poot led Tallahassee by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. 

Hanna Stapleton (0-3) went the distance in the losing effort for the Eagles. 

Tallahassee (9-15-1) will play two more games at the event on Sunday.
