#TCCSoftball: Top-ranked Chipola sweeps Eagles

MARIANNA, Fla. (March 21, 2018) – Top-ranked Chipola College remained undefeated following a sweep against Tallahassee Community College in Panhandle Conference softball action on Wednesday. 

Chipola won by the scores of 7-0 and 6-0 to improve to 8-0 in league play and 36-0 overall. Tallahassee is now 10-22-1 (0-6 PC) and will host Northwest Florida State College, who has dropped ten straight games, on Thursday. 

In the opener, Chipola scored single runs in each of the first three innings then put the game away with a four-run fifth. 

Sidney Mathis (3-7) gave the Eagles a complete-game effort, despite taking the loss. 

D'kota Cassady, Samantha Malik and Olivia Russell each went 1-for-3. 

Game two followed a similar script. 

Shaquoya Williams held the Indians to just one run and four hits through four innings, but the fifth inning again proved costly. 

Chipola had only one hit in the inning but three defensive errors led to three runs and a 4-0 lead. The Indians added two more in the sixth. 

Like game one, Tallahassee managed just three hits – one each by Russell, Monica Marquez and Ismay Poot

Thursday's doubleheader with Northwest Florida State begins at 2 p.m.
