TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 27, 2018) – Gulf Coast State College swept a Panhandle Conference softball doubleheader from Tallahassee on Tuesday, winning by the scores of 10-3 and 13-6.
Tallahassee (10-28-1) remains winless in Panhandle Conference play at 0-12.
In game one, the Eagles trailed 5-0 in the fifth before getting back into the game with one swing of the bat. Ismay Poot hit a three-run homer, cutting the Commodores' lead to just two.
After the teams played a scoreless sixth, Gulf Coast State put the game away with five runs in the seventh against Hanna Stapleton.
Sidney Mathis (3-10) took the loss for Tallahassee.
In game two, Gulf Coast State collected 16 hits in the 13-6 victory.
Tallahassee battled, scoring three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to avoid being run-ruled.
Monica Marquez led the Eagles with a 3-for-4, two-RBI effort. D'kota Cassady and Callen DeLucas had two hits each.
Callie Paine (4-8) took the loss for Tallahassee.
