#TCCSoftball drops two to NWF State

NICEVILLE, Fla. (April 5, 2018) – Northwest Florida State College scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Tallahassee Community College, 6-5, and complete a sweep of the teams' Panhandle Conference softball doubleheader on Thursday.

The Raiders won game one, 10-2.

Tallahassee (10-30-1) remains winless in PC play at 0-14 while Northwest Florida State (29-21-1) improved to 7-9 in league action.

Brandie Callaway's two-out single in the sixth scored D'Kota Cassady to break a 3-all tie and Olivia Russell's seventh-inning double plated Ismay Poot to give the Eagles a two-run cushion.

The Raiders, however, rallied for three runs off Shaquoya Williams in their final at-bat to steal the victory. With a run already in, Summer Frye beat out an infield single to score Maggie Wheless from third with the tying run. Brittani Crawford, who was on second, never slowed down rounding third and beat the throw home for the winning run.

Tallahassee outhit Northwest Florida State, 11-5, in game two. Russell and Cassady both went 3-for-4, scored a run and drove in two.

Williams went the distance in the circle for Tallahassee.

Northwest Florida State tied the game in its half of the first and added three runs an inning later.

Tallahassee scored its only other run in the third when Russell doubled home Malik.
