OCALA, Fla. (January 31, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's softball team fell to 2-6 on the young season following Thursday's doubleheader sweep at the hands of the College of Central Florida.
The Patriots (7-1) won game one, 8-0, then picked up a 13-0 win in game two.
In the opener, Tallahassee had base runners in each inning but was unable to cash in, going hitless in nine at-bats with runners in scoring position.
The Patriots, meanwhile, had two hits in each inning, beginning with Devyn Howard's two-run homer in the first. Central Florida added three runs in the second, one in the third and two more in the fourth.
Sidney Mathis (1-3) took the loss for Tallahassee.
Monica Marquez had two of the Eagles' three hits in game one.
In the nightcap, the Patriots won, 13-0.
Emma Fowler (0-2) took the loss for the Eagles.
Olivia Russell was 2-for-2 with a double.
Up next for Tallahassee will be its home opener on Tuesday against Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) Agricultural College. Game one begins at 2 p.m.
