#TCCSoftball loses twice on day two in Dothan

DOTHAN, Ala. (February 9, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's softball team fell twice on Saturday at the Visit Dothan Invitational, losing to Wallace (Ala.) State Community College-Hanceville and Coastal Alabama Community College-South.

In game one, Wallace-Hanceville handed the Eagles a 13-3 loss.

Tallahassee got on the board first and scored a run in each of its first three at-bats.

Monica Marquez doubled with one out and scored on Olivia Russell's triple for the Eagles' first run. Kathy Rios homered with two outs in the second, and Ismay Poot's RBI-groundout accounted for Tallahassee's third-inning run.

It wasn't enough to keep up with the Lions, however.

Wallace-Hanceville answered Tallahassee's first inning run with three in the bottom half. It scored two in the second, five more in the third and three in the fourth.

Rios, Katelyn Hobbs and Marquez had the Eagles' three hits.

Sammie Massaro (1-3) took the loss in the circle for Tallahassee.

Game two went to Coastal-South by a score of 5-0.

Tallahassee trailed just 1-0 entering the fifth inning. That's when the Sun Chiefs scored three times to take control of the game. They added an insurance run in the sixth.

The Eagles had just four hits and managed just five total baserunners.

Sara Brugnoli doubled while Marquez, Hobbs and Russell singled for the Eagles.

Sidney Mathis (3-4) went the distance for Tallahassee, allowing five runs and eight hits.

Tallahassee will hit the field again on Tuesday when it travels to Santa Fe College for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
