#TCCSoftball swept on road at NWF State

NICEVILLE, Fla. (March 16, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College hit the road for the first time in Panhandle Conference play on Saturday and suffered a sweep at Northwest Florida State College, losing 7-4 and 9-1.

The Eagles (14-19) are now 1-3 in league play.

Trailing 3-0 in game one, Tallahassee tied the game on one swing in the top of the fourth. With runners on first and second and two outs, Dyamond Brown took the first pitch over the left field wall – her first career home run – to knot the game at 3-3.

Momentum was short-lived, however. With the go-ahead run already in, Ashley Autuori drilled a three-run homer to give the Raiders a 7-3 lead.

Tallahassee was poised to answer right back in the fifth, loading the bases with nobody out but three straight fielder's choices halted the rally.

Olivia Russell's solo homer in the seventh provided the final run of the game.

Russell was 1-for-4. Brown was 1-for-3. River Glenn and Kathy Rios had two hits each.

Sidney Mathis (7-7) took the loss in the circle.

Game two followed a similar script. Tallahassee spotted the Raiders an early lead, tied the game then watched Northwest Florida State pull away.

Down 1-0, Russell's third-inning single scored Katelyn Hobbs to tie the game, but the Raiders scored three off Tallahassee starter Emma Fowler in the bottom half to regain the lead for good.

The Raiders scored three more in the fourth and ended the game with a pair of runs in the sixth.

Hobbs had two of the Eagles' four hits in game two.

Fowler (2-8) took the loss for Tallahassee, who hosts Panhandle Conference leader Chipola College on Monday for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
