#TCCSoftball: Mathis pitches Eagles to split at PSC

PENSACOLA, Fla. (March 20, 2019) – Sidney Mathis tossed a two-hit shutout in Tallahassee Community College's 3-0 win in game two of Wednesday's softball doubleheader at Pensacola State College.

Mathis' gem salvaged a split for Tallahassee (15-22, 2-6), who dropped game one, 9-0.

The Eagles got on the board in the second, courtesy of a two-out error and that was all the run support Mathis needed. Ismay Poot gave her some insurance with a two-run homer in the top of the seventh.

Mathis (8-8) didn't allow a base runner until yielding a two-out double in the third, one of only two who made it as far as second base.

Poot finished 1-for-4. Sara Brugnoli was 2-for-4 and Olivia Russell had three hits.

In game one, Pensacola State jumped on Mathis for four runs in the first en route to the 9-0, five-inning victory.

The Pirates added three more in the second and two in the fourth, all against Sammie Massaro

The Eagles had at least one base runner in each inning but only one hit – a fifth-inning single by Katelyn Hobbs

Tallahassee will return to action on Monday when it travels to Gulf Coast State College for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
