#TCCSoftball falls to ‘Dores in sweep

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (March 25, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's softball team dropped both games of Monday's doubleheader at Gulf Coast State College.

The Commodores picked up an 11-3 win in game one then won game two by a 9-0 score.

In the opener, things looked good early on as the Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

Tallahassee scored in its first at-bat when Monica Marquez doubled and later came home on a fielder's choice. Ismay Poot led off the second with a solo homer and the Eagles led 2-0.

After the Commodores tied the game in the third, Tallahassee answered with the go-ahead run in the fourth. Kathy Rios drew a one-out walk and later scored to give the Eagles a one-run lead.

The score was still 3-2 when Gulf Coast State struck for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Commodores added two more in the sixth to end the game.

Sidney Mathis (8-9) took the loss for Tallahassee.

Game two was all Gulf Coast State, as the Commodores won 9-0 in five innings.

Emma Fowler (2-10) took the loss for Tallahassee. She, Olivia Russell and Lily Adams had the Eagles' three hits in game two.

Tallahassee (15-24, 2-8 Panhandle Conference) will return to action on Friday when it hosts Northwest Florida State College for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
