#TCCSoftball falls in sweep at Chipola

MARIANNA, Fla. (April 2, 2019) – Chipola College's softball team remained unbeaten in Panhandle Conference play with a doubleheader sweep of Tallahassee Community College on Tuesday.

The Indians won by the scores of 13-0 and 10-2.

Game one was all Chipola. The Indians jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning then sent 10 batters to the plate in the second, scoring five times to open up an 8-0 lead.

Tallahassee's only serious scoring threat came in the second when it loaded the bases with one out, but Olivia Russell was forced out at home on a fielder's choice and Dev Ferguson struck out to end the inning.

The Eagles avoided Chipola's no-hit bid when Katelyn Hobbs singled with two outs in the fifth.

Sammie Massaro (4-6) took the loss for Tallahassee.

Game two started much better for the Eagles, as they drew first blood in their initial at-bat.

Monica Marquez drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on Russell's single. Ismay Poot drew a walk to load the bases and River Glenn's double plated two runs.

That turned out to be the Eagles' last hit and they had only two base runners the rest of the game.

Down 2-0, Chipola went to work in its first at-bat, scoring three times to take the lead for good.

Glenn and Russell had the Eagles' two hits. Ferguson drew two walks.

Emma Fowler (2-11) took the loss for Tallahassee.

Earlier on Tuesday, it was announced that Thursday's doubleheader against Pensacola State College has been moved to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
