#TCCSoftball wins one of three in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, Fla. (February 3, 2020) – Tallahassee Community College's opening weekend of the 2020 season featured three games at the annual adidas JUCO Kickoff Classic & Showcase, and the Eagles came away with its first win of the new decade.

After opening the season with a 14-0, five-inning loss to NJCAA No. 6 College of Central Florida, Tallahassee bounced back with a solid 8-5 win over Daytona State College to split Friday's pair of games.

The Eagles scored four runs in their first at-bat only to watch Daytona State put three on the board in the bottom half. Tallahassee added single runs in the second and third and two more in the fifth to grab an 8-3 lead.

Jania Davis doubled and homered as part of a 4-for-5 game. Katelyn Hobbs and Alyssa Krausz had two hits each.

Emily Oakes struck out ten in a complete-game effort inside the circle for Tallahassee.

Day two action was cut short thanks for morning rains that washed out the Eagles meeting with Broward College, however, afternoon play against Georgia Military College took place as scheduled.

Tallahassee rallied from deficits of 3-1 and 4-3 to eventually force extra innings before falling 5-4.

The Eagles (1-2) will travel to Santa Fe College for a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 2 p.m.
