Santa Fe takes two from TCC

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 18, 2020) – Santa Fe College took both games of Tuesday's softball doubleheader against Tallahassee Community College, winning 2-0 and 11-6.

Tallahassee had its four-game winning streak snapped and is now 5-8 on the season.

In the opener, Saints pitcher Donnie Gobourne limited the Eagles to just two hits in the Saints' 2-0 win.

Santa Fe plated single runs in the second and third innings and that was all the offense it would need.

Tallahassee starter Emma Fowler (3-4) went the distance and gave up 11 hits but did a nice job limiting the Saints' damage.

Katelyn Hobbs doubled and Stacey Hudson singled for the Eagles' lone hits of game one.

In game two, a five-run fifth for Santa Fe broke a 2-2 tie and sent the Saints to the 11-6 victory.

Tallahassee rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 4-all, but the Eagles' momentum was short-lived. By the time they came to bat in the fifth, they trailed 9-4.

Alyssa Krausz kept the Eagles' hopes alive with a two-run homer, but that's as close as they got.

Santa Fe answered with two runs in the sixth to complete the scoring.

Despite scoring six runs, Tallahassee managed just four hits – one each from Krausz, Esmee Toet, Hudson and Jade Castillo

Emily Oakes (2-4) started in the circle and took the loss for the Eagles.
