Little’s walk-off gives TCC split in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, Fla. (January 29, 2021) – Freshman Raven Little's walk-off homer gave Tallahassee Community College a 5-4 win over Florence-Darlington (S.C.) Technical College in the Eagles' second game of day one action at the Adidas JUCO Kickoff Classic & Showcase.

Georgia Military College handed Tallahassee an 11-5 defeat in the day's first game.

Florence-Darlington evened the score at four with a run in the top of the fifth, and the game remained tied into the bottom of the seventh. Little, who had a single and double in three previous at-bats, jumped on the first pitch of the inning and sent the ball over the centerfield fence to end the game.

She finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Trailing 3-1, the Eagles scored three times in the fourth to grab the lead.

Little led off the inning with a double and scored on Maddy Walther's single. Jania Davis' RBI-single tied the game and Sheshe Ortiz reached on a two-out error, allowing Jade Castillo to race him with the go-ahead run.

Davis went 3-for-3 with a walk and a pair of stolen bases.

Emery Mayne (1-0) picked up the win in relief of Emma Fowler, who started and pitched five innings.

In Friday's first game, which also served as the Eagles' 2021 season opener, Georgia Military broke a 3-all tie with six runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Tallahassee pulled within 9-5 in the fifth on Mayne's two-run double but the Bulldogs got the runs right back in their half of the inning.

Mayne finished 2-for-4.

Emily Oakes (0-1) took the loss in the circle for Tallahassee.

The Eagles will play two more games in Clearwater, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday against top-ranked Florida SouthWestern State College. They'll place USC-Union at 11 a.m.
