NWF State takes two from TCC

NICEVILLE, Fla. (April 20, 2021) – Northwest Florida State College took both games of Tuesday's softball doubleheader against Tallahassee Community College, winning by the scores of 9-3 and 12-2.

Tallahassee outhit the Raiders in game one, 13-8, buoyed by Raven Little's 4-for-4 effort, but could only muster one run in the second and two in the third.

The third-inning offense, generated by Stacey Hudson's RBI-double and Alyssa Krausz' run-scoring single, cut the Raiders' lead to 4-3.

Hudson went 3-for-4 and Maddy Walther was 2-for-4.

The hosts answered with four runs in the bottom half, however, to open things back up and plated two more in the fourth and an insurance run in the fifth.

Emily Oakes took the loss in the circle for Tallahassee.

In the nightcap, the Eagles scored a run in their first at-bat to take the early lead.

Jania Davis singled, stole second and later scored on Raven Little's sac-fly to center.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Northwest Florida State scored two runs in the bottom half then exploded for eight in the second.

Aneyshka Aponte's solo homer in the third accounted for Tallahassee's only other run of the game.

Emma Fowler took the loss in the circle.

The Eagles will close the 2021 season on Thursday when it hosts Chipola College for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
