Jania Davis named Panhandle Conference Player of the Year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 27, 2021) – Tallahassee Community College's Jania Davis has been named the Panhandle Conference Softball Player of the Year. 

The announcement highlighted the release of the 2021 all-conference teams, as voted on by the PC's five head coaches. 

Davis is Tallahassee's first Player of the Year recipient since Jennifer Whitley earned the honor in 2002 and the program's fourth overall, joining Ashley Ivey (1998, 1999) and Porsha Draper (2001). 

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Davis, a sophomore, appeared in 38 games this season as the Eagles' starting centerfielder and dynamic leadoff hitter. 

Her .477 batting average led the Panhandle Conference and is sixth in Region 8. She was even better in conference play, batting .493 over 20 games. 

Davis also swiped a team-high 31 stolen bases in 32 attempts and finished the season with 31 runs scored, three doubles, five triples and 14 RBI. 

She was one of five Eagles named All-Panhandle Conference and the lone first-team pick. 

Third baseman Raven Little and catcher Stacey Hudson earned second-team honors while first baseman Maddy Walther and outfielder Aneyshka Aponte were named honorable mention. 

Little, a freshman from Jacksonville, Fla., batted .352 with ten home runs and 25 RBI in 42 games. 

Hudson, a sophomore from Groveland, Fla., batted .371 with four home runs and 19 RBI in 38 games. 

Walther, a sophomore from Fort Myers, Fla., batted .283 with one home run and 18 RBI in 42 games. 

Aponte, a freshman from Salinas, P.R., batted .317 with five home runs and 16 RBI in 34 games.
