Tallahassee sweeps double header against South Georgia State

TALLAHASSEE, FL (February 25th, 2022) – The Eagles moved to 8-2 on the season after sweeping Friday afternoon's doubleheader against the South Georgia State Hawks.

South Georgia State took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning in game one, but that lead didn't hold for long. Aneyshka Aponte and Brittany Michael singled to open the bottom of the first, and Raven Little drew a walk to load the bases. In stepped Kailynn James, who launched a grand slam to give Tallahassee a lead they would never give back. The home run was her sixth of the season.

Sydney Ray added an insurance run in the fifth inning when she hit a solo home run, bringing her season total to two.

The three earned runs given up by Isa Rouwenhorst were the only three she would allow in the game. She pitched all seven innings, striking out three in the 5-3 victory.

In game two, the Eagles scored nine runs in the third on the way to a 12-2 win in five innings.

Raven Little and Brittany Michael each hit home runs in the victory, and Michael also held the Hawks to just two runs on five innings pitched with eight strikeouts.

The Eagles have another doubleheader today in Cuthbert, Georgia where they will take on the Andrew College Fighting Tigers. Last season, Tallahassee won both games of the doubleheader played at Andrew.
