Eagle women fall to No. 1 Chipola 64-58

MARIANNA, Fla. (January 13, 2015) – The Tallahassee Community College Eagles fell on the road to arch rival and No. 1 ranked Chipola College 64-58 in Panhandle Conference play Tuesday night.  The Eagles are now 3-1 in the Panhandle Conference.

The Eagles got off to a slow start falling behind to the Indians 18-4 in the first half.  With 10:06 left in the half Tallahassee began to slowly claw its way back into the game and trailed 33-21 at the half. 

In the second half the Eagles were able to shrink the Indians' lead and pull within three points.  It began with a 9-0 run with 8:49 left in the game.  Marija Pacar hit a three-pointer to shrink the lead to single digits then Wendion Bibbins made a two-point basket off a Chipola turnover on the inbounds pass.  Cat Wells shrunk the lead to three with a basket on Tallahassee's next trip down the court. 

That was as close as the Eagles came as the Indians made crucial free throws in the final minutes.

The Eagles struggled to contain Chipola's leading scorer Evelyn Akhator who finished the night with 17 points and 15 rebounds.

The Eagles were led offensively by Bibbins who had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Eagles' next game will be on Wednesday, January 21 at Northwest Florida State College.  Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. eastern.
