PANAMA CITY, Fla. (January 28, 2015) – The Tallahassee Community College Eagles women's basketball team suffered one of their worst losses of the 2014-15 season on Wednesday evening, losing to Gulf Coast State College 74-54.
Tallahassee (19-6) has dropped three of its last four games and is now 4-3 in PC play. Gulf Coast State improved to 2-4 in conference action.
The Eagles got off to a slow start and were unable to make anything happen most of the night.
The Commodores jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before Jeremica Edwards got the Eagles on the board.
Tallahassee struggled shooting from the floor in the first half, at one point going over seven minutes without a basket. That drought ended when Eboni Watts hit a three-point basket at the 9:45 mark to make the score 30-13 in favor of the host Commodores.
The Eagles did not see another basket scored until the 3:56 mark in the first half. Tallahassee was able to string together multiple scoring possessions - Aryn Tarver got it started with a basket at the rim and also included a three-pointer by Watts.
Turnovers played Tallahassee in the first half, as it gave up the ball 17 times and entered the half trailing 40-24.
The second half did not favor the Eagles either as they went 10-of-42 from the floor. At one point, the Commodores were able to push the lead to 30.
Watts led the Eagles with 14 points on the night and went 4-for-8 from the three-point line.
Edwards also scored in double-figures with 12 and had four rebounds, an assist, and a block.
